A motley assortment of anecdotes, thoughts, comments, observations, idle speculation, rantings, ravings, tirades, attempted wit & humour, pop culture references, expostulations, hypotheses, and whatever the hell else I feel like posting...

Some truth, courtesy of Craig Ferguson
I've always found Mr. Ferguson is to be very funny & entertaining - I try to watch The Late Late Show whenever I can. You have to be careful not to cut yourself on his razor-sharp wit! Genetic pre-disposition too, I suppose: since I'm of Scottish extraction myself (well, 3 generations back, that is), I just find the whole concept of a ranting and rambling Scotsman inherently amusing. The accent itself always tickles my ears... :-)
Now, after seeing the clip shown here, I have an even deeper respect for the man.
This is one of the best explanations of alcoholism I've ever heard. Simple yet eloquent!
The monologue runs about twelve minutes, so be patient! It's well worth it :-)
I'm a twentysomething Canadian (and damn proud of it, too!) who's still trying to figure out his desired career path. Living in a small town just outside of Ottawa (Canada's capital, for those of you who don't know that already). Cohabitating there with my dear mother (go ahead, make your jokes ;-) until I start making enough money to securely move out. Recent university grad (Bachelor of Arts - With Distinction - History, Minor in Political Science - Carleton University - Class of 2003) and aspiring casual intellectual. Unapologetic user of "big words" and other esoteric jargon. Occasional cynic and purveyor of dry wit. Renowned for my near-encyclopedic knowledge of obscure facts and trivia, as well as of Simpsons, Family Guy and Futurama references. Non-practicing Christian (nominally United - The United Church of Canada, that is) with a generally inclusive, pluralistic, relativistic, deist outlook. Chronically overweight, with the accompanying self-esteem/self-conscious and body image issues. And, oh yeah, compulsive and frequent user of brackets, the semicolon, the hyphen and other sentence-lengthening grammatical devices... :-)
