Mmmm...beer

Went up to a cottage with some co-workers (including my immediate supervisor) and friends Friday night. Near Westport, which is past Perth for those of you who didn't know. Beautiful area right by the lake, especially this time of year with the autumn leaves turning lovely shades of orange, red and brown. Good times were had by all. Nice, small group of about 7 people. Drank a little too much beer - got good and wasted. I was also a source of cheap entertainment for the other guys: sitting by the bonfire, 1) I slumped a little too far over to one side in my folding fabric chair and managed to fall over in slow motion. Being quite drunk, I didn't really notice until I was lying sideways on the ground. Didn't hurt myself at all. Needless to say, though, my equally drunken compatriots were all very amused by the show. I laughed too - hey, it was a funny moment. And 2) I actually broke one of those cheapo plastic lawn chairs. Just couldn't support my hefty frame for an extended period. The funniest part of that was that I was in the middle of saying something when it happened, and, without missing a beat, I nonchalantly add the comment "And I just broke this chair!" in a complete deadpan, matter-of-fact tone of voice. That set the guys off giggling too. Luckily, the host wasn't angry or offended by my transgression. Nevertheless, as an act of contrition, I donated my remaining beer supply to him the next day (no way I was going to finish it). All in all, an enjoyable evening of beer-fueled silliness.

And to top my bad-luck clumsiness off, I managed to spill steaming hot chocolate all over my pants during the drive home. Stupid potholes... No big deal, though - it'll come out in the wash.

Here endeth the lesson... :-)

All hail the Emperor!

This is just too funny and fascinating to keep to myself...

Not a great insightful tome, I know, but hey...I thought it was kinda cool!
